Down the Hole Hammer Drilling

Down the Hole Hammer drilling is a piling system wherein a percussive bit is utilised and fitted to a rotary drilling rig using high pressure air compressors to drive the hammer whilst drilling. It is one of the most efficient methods to drill through hard rock strata.

DTHH size range from 90mm to 750mm full face button bits.

Applications

Down the hole hammer (DTHH) drilling is a percussive method of drilling. It is normally used in rock strata that consists of high strength and above. DTHH drilling can be used on shallow and deep ground, waterwell, oil and gas explorations.

Advantages

  • High efficiency in extremely high strength rock strata.
  • Can be utlised on smaller piling/anchoring rigs.
  • Can be used in conjunction with large diameter bored piles to improve efficiency when drilling high strength rock.
