Project Outline

Sydney Gateway is a toll free motorway to be constructed by John Holland Seymour Whyte Joint Venture.

Scope of Works

The foundation of the bridges are mostly made up of bored piles built using segmental casings. Pile sizes ranges from 900mmØ, 1050mmØ, 1200mmØ and 1500mmØ to depths 25.00 meters to 33.00 meters. Most of the piling works were carried out beneath the Sydney Kingsford Smith airport flightpath with a 11.00m restricted headroom. Avopiling have simultaneously utilised 4No height restricted bored piling rigs and 1No full height piling rig to meet the tight schedule. Other restrictions included adjacent existing infrastructures, such as ARTC rail lines, the Alexandra Canal, Airport Drive and other local roadways.
